November was a fun month - well, for me anyway...

Dave. with the help of our friend Rob, replaced a huge section of the back and side fencing...first he had to take down the bad sections and posts...

why, yes, he did overdo it....

Then there was replacing the bad posts, putting up new supports, and putting up the new slats...

it really couldn't have been done without Rob's help -
he did the majority of hauling and holding

But it did look good when finished!

 Our heroes did an awesome job!

I joined friends for lunch a few times, once at Benihana's - one of my favorites...

It wasn't until mid-month that the weather turned and our one maple tree in the front changed colors overnight...

And Thanksgiving was a wonderful day with good friends and good food!

The last Monday of the month was the DAFA holiday party which was the usual blast!

 We had the auctioneer used by the Dallas Quilt Guild come and auction off members' art pieces...

 and we had a fashion show...

As for art - I spent the month getting ready to work on a piece for the DAFA Members Show Challenge...

I took the inside of men's neckties...

Sewed half of them together and added dyes and inks...

Then cut them into 4" squares and basted squares of the undyed ties as backing/batting...

And then added paint with stamps and stencils...

All to get them ready to hand-stitch!

And, of course, all month, Mr. Raider was his adorable self...

Oct. 12-31, 2018

The rest of the month was pretty low-key.  I went out to lunch a couple of times, and we both petted on Raider a lot...

On the 22nd, Reid and I stopped at the Bath House Cultural Center on the way to the DAFA meeting - while she was talking to a friend, I took pictures in the small garden out front.  It was FULL of butterflies! Only had my phone, so couldn't zoom in too closely, but I managed to get a few (unfortunately, I didn't get all of the different varieties that I saw...).

On the 25th, Dave and I adulted by early voting...

Happy to perform our constitutional privilege!

Oct. 1-11, 2018 While we were gone...

On this trip, while we were gone, our daughter Shera house/dog sat for us - for which we are eternally grateful.  We always worry a little about the house, but we really worry about Mr. Raider - he has separation anxiety (he almost died once while we were in Nevada...). So it was a great relief to be able to leave him in his own house.

Turns out, I'm not sure he even cared that we weren't there - he had the Other Lady to sit on and to feed him and he had all all his stuff, so he was good.

Shera sent us pictures daily to prove he was okay (my separation anxiety is not quite as bad as Mr. R's, but it isn't pleasant!).
