August 11-12 Congress - Lord Lyon Court and Final Banquet

Dave attended the Congress and I rested at the hotel (with my new wool & knitting needles and BBC and ITV).  On Thursday, Dave attended the Court of the Lord Lyon before returning to the hotel to join me for dinner. The Lord Lyon King of Arms is a judge under Scottish law and regulates heraldry in Scotland (no, really...I heard that he once sent out men with chisels to remove a coat of arms from a bridge because it hadn't been approved yet...)

Court of the Lord Lyon (also President of this year's Congress)

and on Friday, Dave attended lectures and, in the evening, we attended the Congress Banquet in the Great Hall, where we enjoyed a wonderful dinner and visited with friends.

We really missed some of our friends that couldn't attend this year, but it was a wonderful evening and we got to say good-byes to our friends who were not joining the groups on the following days for area tours.

August 10 (2) Congress - Parade

At 6:30 p.m. everyone began lining up for the parade from the Trades Hall to the City Chambers...
it was less than a block, but they obviously wanted to make as great a show as possible, so they went around the back of the Trades Hall, around to the front, and then all around George Square before arriving at City Chambers
Dave just patiently waiting
