Dallas Quilt Guild: met Jules (and her husband, Jeff) for dinner and then we joined Mary at the Guild meeting - kudos to me for donating all of my quilting-related DVDs (more stuff out of the studio), turning in the block challenge (my first time), and donating three of my mini-quilts for the show auction.
Finished up a mini-quilt: In the Garden 17.5" x 5"; The peltex (foundation) is still a little curvy, so I am contemplating various methods for making it flatter. But, I liked the design so much, I may have to do a few more on the theme. I'm not sure I want to sew all my yoyoes together (it's soooo tedious); using them on mini-quilts might be the answer!
Spent at least an entire day down the rabbit hole of ancestry.com.
Dave's mother, Dorothy, passed away peacefully in her sleep only a few days before she turned 89. Dave was fortunate to be able to spend that last day with her.
He flew out before I did, so for once I had a window seat on the plane...I hope to use some of the pictures in my artwork...
And, even though we will miss Dorothy very much, it was wonderful to have such support from the family - and, though the reason was sad, it was wonderful to see almost all of the kids, some of the grandkids, and even a great-grandbaby.
After the memorial service, we went to celebrate Dorothy at Mimi's Restaurant -
And, the next day, after the internment service, we spent more time visiting with each other

And then went to an Italian restaurant, where it took two pictures to get both tables!
Proof that it's possible to be sad and happy at the same time - I know that so much family support meant the world to Dave and I felt proud to be part of such a beautiful family. It was especially wonderful that the kids helped Dave with things that needed doing and hugged him as much as possible!
Dave and I stayed the week and left the following Monday - and, to be honest, I hope these are the last pictures I take in Vegas (not my favorite place)...

After returning home and recovering from colds, our life went back to normal (for us).

And I patiently survived my driver's license renewal, so rewarded myself with lunch at The Cotton Patch Cafe!
