What a keeper!

My husband is definitely a keeper!  On his latest trip to speak to genealogists (in Lufkin), he found the quilt store and boldly went in and picked out 9 fabrics to bring me as souvenirs!  And not pre-cut fat quarters, either!

And he has excellent taste!  I can hardly wait to use it all...

Bragging-

I'd like to take a minute to brag on our grand-daughter, Megan...

All of the other grandkids are great and unspeakably wonderful, too, but when Megan asked for fabric a couple of weeks ago...well, yes...I was thrilled! 

Turns out she wanted to make doll clothes for one of the little girls she babysits for - so, Grandma Jo Ann went for the only viable solution - she had fabric sent from equilter.com!  (She actually asked for my scraps, but as you all know, I am obsessed with sewing those all back together to turn them into larger pieces of fabric...)...and, well...every seamstress should have her own stash.

Anyhoo...she sent me a picture of the first dress, and I am so proud - I think she did a great job...

I look forward to rest of her summer collection!  (And, maybe when she has used up the larger pieces of fabric, she'll sew all the scraps together into a doll quilt!  I'm just saying....)

Heat Defeat

Ok.  I admit it.  I have been defeated by the heat.  My poor window unit in the studio cannot keep up...so I have temporarily moved downstairs. 

Currently working on scrap-busting...that's where you take a tub of scraps...

Cut them into strips and semi-sort into similar lengths...



Then production sew them to each other, first one-to-one; then pair-to-pair etc...

occasionally stopping to iron them....

So...for the rest of the summer - if you need me (when I'm not at work), you can find me in the corner of the living room...staying cool and busting through those scraps!

I LOVE...

...my husband and how, when I can't travel with him, he brings me back pictures of things he is pretty sure I would have taken pictures of if I HAD been with him.
